What’s the most effective online display ad format?

A recent US Google report found that the format of a display ad can make a considerable difference.

A 250×250 pixel ad using Flash scored the highest click through rate (CTR) of any format with 0.26%. The worst performers were vertical 120×240 banners with and a full (468×60) banner, which both got rates of 0.05%.
